I really have never been raped and surely never meant to give anyone the impression that I did. There are many other forms of shaming.
When I went to jail (the SMC Detention Center) and later to the MD. DOC (State Prison) (only for political misdameanors) then while incarcerated I never got raped but I did get beat up several times by the guards, stripped, locked in Isolation,one of my cell mates cut his own throat in front of me, some other inmates do get perverted (because of that system) and a few do get violated. Jail is a horrible cruelty to do to people.
There is also a lot of mental illness in all the jails and there is a big difference between mental illness and crimally insane. In jail I learned the difference.
Even though I only committed minor offences and spent three years in prison for a misdameanor, I still considered myself as more of a criminal than virtually every other inmate in the system. It is still true that I consider myself to have been a political prisoner but for other inmates are in jail because of petty or foolish reasons like they lost their temper or were drunk or because of drugs, most people in jail in my opinion are there because they can not control their own emotions and or addictions, but not I.
