Because it's a 15 year job and there are few opportunities to become a judge. Do you want a judge who has to be convinced to take the job and does so reluctantly? NO!
Judge Stamm is a man of integrity and will not base his future judicial decisions on who gave how much to his campaign.
I think Shane will probably make a good judge in 10 or 15 more years. And Sparling would probably be a good second choice if Judge Stamm wasn't already the Judge. But I think we should keep Judge Stamm...
