That's why I love the forums so much... I learn so much.... and what you are saying makes total sense....
OK... so you and Pete say that making a point is throwing away a vote...
I believe action taken in the polling place is never throwing away a vote.
I plan on writing in my name. If I am the only one that does that, then so be it... but my vote will be to say stop ignoring the needs of the 18 Calvert County Communities that have roads to maintain....
If others choose to write in "issues" or "roads" or my name... their vote is not wasted either, IMO, because it says something.... just like going to the polls and choosing "none of the above" by using the "no vote" option... is not throwing away a vote.
I know I lost the Primary... and I know that I won't win a seat even on a write in ballot....
but the action is a vote... It's not used very often but it is available....
I ran for office because the needs of the people who live in 22 of the Calvert County Communities [18 of which maintain roads] are ignored. If a discussion [and eventually a solution] resulted from my action... then we won because we were totally ignored until this point....
I spoke with the other candidates about the issues facting the 18 communities that have roads... and they were totally ignorant to the problem or unwilling to look into solutions... I don't mean this in a bad way...
I mean it's just been ignored for so long that no one knows there are real viable solutions....
