We are not talking about a squeaker, a close one, up watching the polls late into the night while the lead switches back and forth, it was a loss by what, a 2-1 margin, last in a 4 way race?
The "real" issues, or just the ones you thought were important and were rejected by the voters? How could any reasonable politician/candidate try to publicly convince people to throw away their votes by writing in names that were rejected in the primary? Below you talk about how independents are cheated by the 2 party primary system, yet you advocate other voters throw away their votes by writing in someone who has no chance at all of winning?
Then perhaps that independent should do some soul searching and decide which party more closely reflects their personal values and join one. Being a registered Democrat, or Republican only means that you are restricted in primaries. You can vote for your party candidate who you desire or even voice your opinion by not voting at all. You are free to vote your conscience in the general.
I am not in Calvert, but if I was I have to say that your continued chant of "it's not over" and "write in Tice" erodes your legitimacy as a future candidate. To me as a voter a vanquished candidate who refuses to accept the results of a large loss with some degree of dignity indicates a serious lack of judgement and logic. Some see your "defiance" of the "establishment" as admirable. I see it as "disregard" for the will of the voters which is not admirable. It smells like "loony".
I do admire you in that you decided to join the fray and do something. You lost, hell every candidate has lost. But instead of wanking about it and causing people to question your mental state and driving them away in future elections, you should use the next 4 years to refine, reconstruct and repackage your campaign and try again.
My opinions only | What he said. Why don't you just endorse a candidate that has a chance? Those that did vote for you might join you and you will have still made a difference. |
