When we accept the rightful blame and then repent and make ammends and then the guilt becomes insignificant and tolerable.
Like we do not ease the guild by accepting stolen money,
or making rich people healthier by killing poor babies,
or prospering while ignoring the lingering detriment still from the African slavery.
We do change the past through repentance and making ammends,
and when there is no repentance then the blame and guilt increases.
