So I do some searching last night and come across this;

MythBusters special - I HAVE to see this! They are going to do this in FULL SCALE.

Now - the pilot says (near the end) "if I match my speed exactly the same speed forward as its (treadmill belt) going backwards and there is no air over the wings I should sit there like a brick..."

At this point I think I am not totally crazy!

So I go and read this which sheds more light on the subject... The wheels on a plane are free wheeling (like the article says) unlike a car which are driven to provide forward movement. :lightcomeson: !!!

Now I get it!
