Both of my cats have been scratching at their ears alot lately. I have taken them to the vet for this problem before and all they did was clean them out. I hate seeing them in this pain. What is the best way to clean them out? I have tried a q-tip, but if you have a cat you know how that goes. Thank-you all for your help.
My kitties had the same problem awhile back and the vet gave me some type of solution to use but they said not to use q-tips but to use cotton balls so you don't injure their ear drums. I know that's not really what you're looking for, but it seems like you really care about them so I thought I'd let you know.

Good luck
