Churches in the US are allowed to exclude employees based on religion. They are private, not for profit organizations, and they can hire (or not) anyone they desire. They can even discriminate based on race or gender. You can be sure there are no Catholics cleaning the Mormon temples, or vice versa.
If your church/mosque/temple is considered to be sacred ground, and your belief dictates that only believers should enter that sacred ground, why should non-believers be allowed to enter?

muslim thing and turn the tables here. If a christian church fired a muslim couple, would you be supporting the muslims? Would you be comending their faith?
