I bought my house from an owner. He had made some flyers on his home computer including a nice photo. He only advertised locally. The transaction was handled completely by
my lawyer. It was as a snap, and very economical. Two houses down from where I live now is a home being sold by the owner.
If you decide to go this route, there are websites galore with a ton of advice on the subject.
