Turning off lights is NOT like turning off your car. If you turn off your car, you save the gasoline you would have consumed. If you turn off your lights it makes no difference. The electricty is generated regardless of wheter you use it or not. All you are doing is saving yourself $.83 on your next SMECO bill. |
Funny that you make that comparison, on the Web site for Earth Hour they stated: "In 2007, Australians in Sydney turned off their lights for one hour. The energy savings was the equivalent of taking 47,000 cars of the road."
Again, if you don't want to/don't think you can safely/don't know how/don't understand what lights are/etc. then you can ignore Earth Hour as if it doesn't exist.
