Two reasons:
The men my age who were married and are now getting divorced for what ever reason want no strings and they want to sew the wild oats they missed out on by marrying young.

I don't know, I've seen some 40-45 year olds who are just as bad, if not worse, than the younger guys. They try to pull the same crap and same lines and one would think they have "outgrown" it but many haven't. I'm sure there are men out there who are not like that (Here I am...in denile again
), I just haven't found one.
By the way, there are plenty of 40-45 year old men who are not SLOW GEEZERS. Think of the Energizer Bunny!!!
