It's what people say when they don't want to feel bad for killing thier child. When you are pregnant it is a baby, and after 9 months, it is a person, and if you stop the pregnancy, you are taking a life that would have been.

As long as it fails to implant naturally it's not an abortion. If an outside source causes it not to implant (RU486 or the like) then it is an abortion. Conception is the beginning of life. Whether or not it is viable outside of the womb is irrelevant. Many old people are not viable on their own but they should not be aborted.
