From
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith (which I am just reading now for the first time)
"G'wan! They'll never give winnin the vote.
Don't lay any bets on it.
If that comes, my wife vote like me, otherwise I'll break her neck....
They'll never let a women runt he government.
There's one running it right now.
Like hell!
Wilson can't turn around and go to the bathroom 'less he asks Mrs. Wilson if it's ok by her...
What we need in the White House is a sound politician and not a school teacher."
I just though this part was profound given that we have a women running for President and this book was published over 50 years ago.
It seems that the talk about politics has not changed much.
Nor have the people involved
