Actually William Donald Schiester and Paris Spendenning were responsible for tax increases after a Governor, he was even a Democrap, eased the tax burden to Marylanders.
Marylanders received an unexpected refund bonus in 1981-2, don't remember which year, when the states budget was less than revenue. (Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus) Hughes wasn't interested in siphoning all the states funds to Baltimore or creating things to spend it on. So Maryland got a break... Enter S#$@$%. The inner harbor gets rebuilt, new stadiums, other projects for Bal'mer... Maryland gets it's tax bill raised... several times.
Where do you get the idea funding for Medicaid has to be tied to raising taxes? How about cutting wasteful spending. Let Bal'mer and Prince Georges stand on their own for once. Instead of bleeding the rest of the state like leeches.
As for KKT's out of state fundraising... Why do you suppose MD's "Millionaires" or affluent aren't giving her more? Maybe it's because they've already had enough of the Governor's Mansion and Legislature and their ever-growing appetites! Maryland needs many things but higher taxes and KKT aren't two of them!
Lastly... Exactly why does Maryland need more "spotlight" than it all ready gets?
