I came into Great Mills as a freshman in 1991. We were the largest freshman class they'd had at about 250 students. By the time we graduated, only 87 walked. Granted, some were military kids who moved in the previous years. Others moved to Leonardtown HS to get away from the ghetto-ness of Great Mills. But many of my peers just stopped going. One by one they fell off the radar. I don't know how those stated statistics are computed, but I do know that if the school is anything like it was 15 years ago, the dropout rate has to be at least 30%.
