When I was 10, my brother and I would be all over the place, in the woods, catching tadpoles, doing whatever...as long as we were home by the time the radio tower lights came on (country kid's equivalent of streetlights), nobody much worried about it.
Of course, these girls weren't dressed for an extended trek in the woods and they were probably expected back for lunch.
