You're wrong. I have faith in him but that doesn't mean I think he's going to win, it merely means that I support what he stands for. Isn't that why we vote - not because we think someone will win but that we hope they will, we believe in them. I have very little faith in voters as a whole; I mean you have people voting for McCain that can't stand him but they're still voting for him and I don't understand why. You have Democrats that won't vote for Obama because he's not Hillary, you have people here in Southern Maryland that cannot fathom putting a black person in the White House, I have friends that whisper "black" when talking about someone's attitude, or a promotion, or fairness. I don't think he's going to win the election, I do think his color is going to play a huge role in that decision, you're right, not everything, but probably more than enough to contribute. It's an undercurrent and people probably won't admit it - very few really WANT to be seen that way. Will I personally be saying that racist America prevented this, seriously doubt it, people are what they are, warts and all. You know what though, no matter who wins, it's not the end of the world, this country will survive.
I am curious about bcp and the HNIC remark though. I wonder where it came from, he's younger than I am and even though I was little when "colored" was used, I never, not even once, uttered the "N" word.
