Actually, a single person cannot invalidate a stereotype. Stereotypes have to be reversed by the majority. Further, once stereotypes are in place, it would take a vast, vocal majority of the community to reverse a stereotype.

Take for example, the stereotype that black people eat a lot of fried chicken and watermelon (not that there's anything wrong with that ). If you don't like fried chicken and watermelon, but the majority does, the stereotype is valid. However, if the black community starts campaigns about not liking fried chicken and watermelon, the stereotype would go away.

It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be tomorrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known and less fixed? -James Madison
