Barack Obama didn't have a friend who went off the deep end; he befriended someone who DID go off the deep end, and Obama knew it when he befriended this guy. There is an enormous difference.
And if it were John McCain who had these pals, the Democrats would be screaming bloody murder and you know it. Heck, they were outraged that Sarah Palin was associated with an Alaska secession group, even after it was proven that she was never even associated with them. And this group never planted bombs and killed people.
