Gates should be a popular pick for everyone...if he's picked. As I say, Gates makes sense.
Lugar and Hagel would not be a "politics as usual" pick...but you wouldn't be happy with their level of military experience. What is the case for Lugar or Hagel regardless of their party affiliation? I don't see it in either one of them
Clark is most certainly qualified in regards to military experience, but then you'd be upset because he's a Democrat. Nope. Bush upset me. From Obama, or any Dem, I'd expect it.
I've been happy with Obama's picks for VP and COS. (Remember, a COS is there to get things done...not make the opposing party feel warm and fuzzy inside.) I trust Obama will make his decision on SECDEF based on who he honestly feels is the best man for the job. |
Rahm will not, for sure, make anyone on the right feel warm and fuzzy. Perhaps you'll make note of it when he goes too far and is too partisan?
