| IMO a baby is viable when it can live outside of the womb without the use of the woman's body.
THAT being said I believe the Infants Born Alive Act has very little to do with abortion rights. The key here is INFANT BORN ALIVE.
As some who is adamantly pro choice I find it abhorrent that there even needs to be a law that states medical care should be given to an infant born alive no matter what the specifics of the birth were.
My pro choice stance mainly stems from my belifs of maternal vs fetal rights and that the maternal rights should always take priority of the fetal rights until the fetus/baby no longer uses the woman's body. Once that happens they are a legal human being and should be afforded all the rights that come with being a legal human being including medical care.
I just do not see why in a failed abortion custody is given to the state and the baby is cared for as much as medically possible. I guess I just do not see why it is even an issue. |
