My point is that this is not really an advantage for married people as well, and gave a well-known and publicized case as an example.
Health care is not government controlled (yet), and has nothing to do with anything. My company provides health care benefits to a live-in same gendered partner, but not an opposite sex live-in partner unless you're "married".
