When I first started reading the forums, it seemed many people "knew" each other and would talk back and forth throughout the various threads. These conversations were, for the most part, friendly and I enjoyed the camaraderie they evoked. Now, however, it seems that there are way too many cruel people making cruel, crude remarks about other forumites. I see that a lot too, but I think when you have a forum, you are going to have dissention. I normally choose to ignore it, and since I don't know a lot of people here I don't care a lot about the bickering.

when posting a new thread, the trick is to try to word your first post in such a way that it CAN go in many directions.
makes it more fun that way.
if you or someone else wants to get back on track, simply post a response that will do so. If the majority want to get back on track, it will. If not, oh well.
once introduced, I firmly believe that the topic becomes the "property" of the forum as a whole, and it is not owned by the original poster.

I was more bothered by the cruelty of some of the posts, rather than just going off topic.
