After rereading this post on the Pigskin thread, it dawned on me that this kid (16 I think) is a perfect example of how threads go. He purposely picked arguments then tried to write responses, got frustrated because nobody could understand him, finally told everybody to get off his thread. If there are no repercussions, you basically say what you want, to be as hurtful, mean or stupid as you want.
I have to remember that there are kids masquerading as adults who get the impression that the dialog on SoMD is typical polite internet banter. It slows my response down so I can rephrase a reply. Can you imagine some of things being said on here being repeated in public? Jeff would be a lot busier on the scanner!

These conversations were, for the most part, friendly and I enjoyed the camaraderie they evoked. Now, however, it seems that there are way too many cruel people making cruel, crude remarks about other forumites. A thread begins innocently enough and suddenly it becomes a verbal fight that has nothing to do with the original topic. The viciousness of some of the comments really bother me. I have considered not reading the forums anymore, but I hate to miss out on the good stuff. I just hope that the good stuff doesn't get harder and harder to find....

If your getting so involved, that the comments from strangers to other strangers is starting to effect/affect you, then maybe you should take a break
