| forums getting Jerry-Springer-like When I first started reading the forums, it seemed many people "knew" each other and would talk back and forth throughout the various threads. These conversations were, for the most part, friendly and I enjoyed the camaraderie they evoked. Now, however, it seems that there are way too many cruel people making cruel, crude remarks about other forumites. A thread begins innocently enough and suddenly it becomes a verbal fight that has nothing to do with the original topic. The viciousness of some of the comments really bother me. I have considered not reading the forums anymore, but I hate to miss out on the good stuff. I just hope that the good stuff doesn't get harder and harder to find.... |

| No matter where you go, here or in real life - there's always a bad apple, a bad seed, and wheat mixed in with the chaff. Nothing is perfect, just take it with a grain of salt and look for the positives. There's far more positives you can get out of this site then negative and you know what, I'm going out on a limb and I'm going to bet Kwillia's bippy on this! Don't give up! |

| I have to agree with the OP to some degree. Example, a fairly serious thread regarding a (possible) plane crash at Pax interupted by a couple of people that know each other and apparently don't like each other much, calling each other names. Then yet another couple of people chimed in about, of all things, baby teething foods. I mean, c'mon, if you want to post about that, make a thread, no problem, but posting about baby teething foods in a thread about a plane crash? Sheesh.

| And I agree, as long it is even remotely on the topic of the thread. These posts were not, no way, no how, even remotely related to the thread topic.

| Sad, ain't it? Unfortunately, there are a few bitter people who cannot see beyond their own shallow existence.

| Yes it is. Thread hijacking used to be fairly rare on SOMD, and now, like the OP said, the Jerry-esk attacks are all too common. Threads generally remained pretty well on topic, for the most part. It was better that way, at least I think....
