Auto Links?

What's up with the link that popped up in my post? I didn't create it (obviously, hah!). Is that a new forum feature or has my laptop gone wack?

Why the Bereans rejected Sola Scriptura

This is a feature found on many other websites. The software looks for references or words that could possibly be applied to one of their advertisers or to that service. When such an association is found, the software automatically puts a link or pop-up on that word or phrase. It's not something you've done wrong, it's the owners of the web service finding another revenue source.

It is driving me crazy! I clicked on the link in Jameo's post about her dad's truck and was taken to a truck door for sale on eBay...

I find it annoying.

Thanks for the explanation, Lurk.

So, umm, I wonder if we can have some fun with this like we did the tagging feature??

We could play with certain words and phrases to see if we can get it to link to "questionable" sites.

What I meant to say was
this is Vrai and Davids site. I would suggest that we dont try to have fun with this feature, we just click on the links and see if we want what it offers.

I wonder of it is a revinue stream or just a feature that came along for the ride with the new software? Sure would be better if there were relevance to the links but they seem kind of... random. Lots of ebay links. Uggh. And no way to tell if it is a "user link" put there by the poster or if it is a "junk mail link" (well, that's what i call them) or worse, a "spam link".

I would ask that they be turned off, if that's an option. Annoying, distracting, and not an approprite way to generate link clickthrough trafffic IMHO.
