Hating the SOMD Forum

I’ve been on here for quite a few years now. I came here to debate and learn. And to hopefully meet some of the good folks of SOMD. It's been a good place for all of that. But it is rapidly changing.

I know there have been those few juvenile-types that serve no other purpose than to throw pointless bombs at others. But lately it’s become a cesspool of adolescent bickering and senseless attacks. It seems most of the threads don’t even get about 2 posts in before someone is throwing some sort of disparaging remarks to completely destroy any chance for a meaningful discussion. These people have no intent in engaging in debate and discussion on a topic; they only want to find ways to take cheap pokes at people they feel are easy targets for their juvenile bullying.

I’m all for free discussions and expression, but is this really what you people (and you know who you are) are all about? Is this the best you can do? I’m assuming you folks are adults and don’t really conduct yourselves this way out there in our society?

I know most of you don’t care, but I really have very little desire to come here anymore. I’m fed up with opening a thread, ready to contribute my thoughts only to find it’s already been flamed by the usual suspects. Is it really that difficult to either engage in the discussion at hand or just ignore it and move on? Or are you just in it for the thrill of seeing who you can aggravate while you snicker at your monitor?

Ha. You think this is bad you should have seen it a year or two ago.

Put people on Ignore. Then they can prattle all they want and you won't see it. It works if you work it.

Errr... I was here a year or two ago. I don't remember the nonsense being this bad. Maybe I was just paying less attention then. Of course back then we only had one serial poster (nonnoboy). Once ETC came on the scene all heck broke loose.

I don't like the ignore thing. For some stupid reason I like to try to challenge myself with the discipline of mental filters. But it's been failing me lately. I was ignoring JPC for a while then realized I wasn’t laughing enough.

I just really want to know what drives people to behave so childishly in places like this when they know darn-well they wouldn’t do or say these things in public – or maybe they would. Anonymity causes people to believe they are exercising courage when, in reality, they're really just cowards.

That's what I was thinking, Black Francis, Smooth Marine and the rest of the tard squad. All in all I thought things have been going very easily, possibly even boringly. Maybe it's you (Psyops) that has changed, perhaps you're just not as thick skinned as you once were.

I don’t have any problem putting people on ignore and you shouldn’t either. It makes life less aggravating. I just wish sometimes I could ignore myself.
