Netscape

Anyone using Netscape?

Recently I had noticed that NMCI had pushed the browser to my desktop at work and decided to give it a shot. The page formatting looked all hosed up and when I went to make a post there was no dialogue box to type into.

Is this something anyone else has observed?

I haven't used it yet, but I think that the home page is to "busy".

I didn't pay much attention to the home page, I'll check it out Monday. All I was looking for was a way to get rid of the dang clipped off pages that the IE has been doing lately. Maybe I'll have to read posts with Netscape and reply with IE. The wonders of technology.

Ken, which version of Netscape is it? Please don't tell me the Navy is still using Netscape 4. That would be like outfitting the Joint Strike Fighter with bows and arrows instead of missiles.

From my experience writing DHTML/CSS/Javascript, Netscape 7 and Mozilla Firefox display pages exactly the same, since they are both based on the same rendering engine. I use Firefox at home and love it. The only problem with viewing the Forums with Firefox is that the dropdowns on Search and QuickLinks won't work if I don't wait for the page to finish loading.

I'll have to check the version on Monday. Maybe I have a corrupt installation at work. I really don't want to gripe that I can't post on SOMD forums from there though, if you know what I mean.

I have the same "issue" with the drop down menus too using Firefox. A little annoying but nothing I can't live with, unlike not being able to post from Netscape.

I have the same problem on mine. It is totally unusable and have no idea why they installed such a totally hosed version.

Hey Jazz, can you check the version. I was planning on starting vacation Tuesday but since Susan ended up in the hospital yesterday I started my time-off a day early.

Thanks

The version is 4.76. Geesh, no wonder it doesn't work!

Latest Netscape release

I'm using Netscape 8.0.3, works real nice, and it has AOL Instant Messenger built right in. You can simply get it, just click here.

I also have the beta release for the new Internet Explorer - also real nice - I'll have to upload a link for that.
