I use Dr. Simlote too. He is great! I have a different number for his Waldorf Office: (301) 737-4995.

hello all,
I am sorry to hear about the pet allergies. You could try acidophilus from the health food store to boost immunity, it is very safe and can be used in large doses. Just start with about one third of an adult dose and build it up over a week or so---till you notice a change.

Also bee pollen builds an immunity to environmental allergies, like grasses and tree spores, and dust. It is said you should buy it from a local source then the bees are pollinating from the same plants that may bother you!

I've already invested a bunch of money in to having him and it's just nice to have something furry to play with.(keep your dirty mind to yourself) Can I put something on the dog to protect my kiddo?? Also, the previous owner recommended a shock collar for training and to teach him not to run off so badly.. She says I can work with him outside better. I don't think I want to do this.. Sounds mean if you ask me. What do you think?
How is this going? I would clip both animals down and bath regularly..

He was taking a nasal allergy medicine, but it wasn't working well enough. I've moved the dog outside for the most part and got him a loft bed so the dog doesn't get on it when he is in the house. Lucky is a beagle, so there's not much fur. The birds are gonna have to go sooner or later.. I just don't have the time for them.
Cleaned the furniture and will clean the carpets again in the spring.

Got him on a new medicine and am still thinking about the allergy shots. I hate to do that to him, he hates shots so much.

He's got dental work to be done over the next few months, so I don't want to overwhelm him. He seems to be ok for now.

If he does have to get shots, ask the dr. about EMLA cream to put on his arm. It is a lidocaine cream that will numb the area where he gets the shot. You will have to ask the nurse where to put it (our nurse also has us circle the area with a pen), as it has to be done 30-60 minutes before the shot is given, but it does lessen the discomfort. My dd HATES shots and cries if I forget to put the cream on, so I know what you mean. The nurses at the office where she got her shots are the ones who suggested this, she was so bad. I think they just felt really bad for her, because it does really seem to hurt her, so anything to help.

BTW, we see Dr. Fears who is excellent and has an office in Solomons, but that is probably a little far for you. Best of luck to you!

Youngest had allergies to dogs, cats, grass, mold, and birds just to name a few....the dr that I went to said that more than likely he will out grow them and he did....he outgrew it in about a year and a half

I have more animals now than I care to mention and he is just fine with all of them
