We're looking for someone to install a paver patio and design a landscape plan for our backyard. We don't mind doing the actual landscaping ourselves, we just need a little help in the design area. Any recommendations for a patio installer and/or landscaper (ideally the same company, but we're open to suggestions)? Or more importantly, who to stay away from? TIA.

I recently had my front entrance redone by s superb company called Set In Stone. Call Joseph May at 301-877-3293

Website: Home (http://www.SIS-STONE.com) (lots of pictures of their work)

Prices were over 1/3rd cheaper than Wentworth Nursery wanted to charge us and we got better stone and a faster turnaround from design to work start.

All estimates are free so you have nothing to loose... :coffee:

Great Scapes (410.867.6480) installed our paver patio and it looks amazing! I believe that one of their sales people, Cindy, is also a landscape designer but we kind of just figured out our own landscaping design due to our budget. I'd recommend them to anyone.

We were actually going to have Set in Stone out for an estimate (met them at the recent home show), but they never called back to set up an appointment.

I checked out their website, and it looks great. I'll give them a call and see if they work in St Mary's (we're in Mechancisville). Thanks!

We used Set in Stone as well and had great results. The workers were done in 2 days. Did a huge patio with a nice sitting wall. They gave us great ideas to go along with our plans we designed. They also did our retaining wall.

Is he the owner? Because I was going to call and let them know (and see if I could get a discount out of it!).

How big is you patio? We're looking at about 12'x58' with a retaining wall as well, since we have a slope.

I think it's around 12'X 48' I think. Our back yard has a slope as well. We knew we wanted a rataining wall but didnt know how to design it. They added steps which look great. I can e-mail you pictures of the whole process if you want. Here is a link to our retaining wall. Picture # 9

Good, I'd definately check out a few places and compare prices. I'm not sure how they compare with other places, price wise, but they do really nice work. I'm pretty sure they handle the St Marys area as well. Good luck!

Does anyone have an idea how much paver patios cost? What about concrete overlay?

No but I would still ask because he's resonable and actually told me ways I could cut cost. I even saved 1g because I rented a jackhammer and broke up and removed the front steps and walkway prior to them coming so my new entrance also took only 2 days to complete. The entrance looked so beautiful I called them back and had them install matching retainer walls for our flower beds...

Wentworth is a total rip off. They use installers that don't necessarily work for the company- just do stone work for them- so they must charge more. Go elsewhere- you'll be happier. I should know- I once worked for the co. in the Prince Frederick location....
