View Full Version : phone calls from Detention Center

Does anyone know why when someone calls from the detention center that you do not have a particular amount of time to talk? Phones are 85 cents but they phone calls can be from 2 minutes to 15 minutes. You do not get a warning that your time is running out. This is very annoying. My daughter is there right now and everytime she calls we never know how long we can talk. Most of the time we get cut off in the middle of conversation and she calls back. Every call costs 85 cents. It would really be nice if there was some kind of indicator letting you know when your time is almost up. Or at least let every call be the same amount of time. Just letting off steam.

Thanks

Geez, someone puts that info out there and you expect people to NOT ask why she's in there? Now that's just crazy. Of course we wanna know.

Bet it ain't a rainin' back home bet your sister's still on the phone
Bet mama's in the kitchen cookin' fried chicken wishin' that I hadn't went wrong
Oh but mama don't you worry everything's gonna be alright
They're teachin' us a lot of new things in here
There ain't no good in an evil hearted woman
And I ain't cut out to be no Jesse James
And you don't go writin' hot checks down in Mississippi
And there ain't no good chain gang
[ guitar ]
Papa's readin' yesterday's mail wishin' that the hay was all baled
I bet that he's a wishin' we could go fishin'
Stead of me sittin' here in this ol' damned jail
There ain't no good...
No there ain't no kinda good...

20 mph over posted limit or 80 mph qualifies for Reckless Driving in Va. Class 1 misdemeanor with a potential penalty of 1 year in jail and $2,500 and suspension of priviledge to drive in Va.

I forget how high the speed limit goes in certain spots in VA, but I know on the way down to FL the limit was 70 on I95 in GA and plenty of people were doing 80+. Does this mean that someone doing 80 in a 70 in VA can go to jail for a year (not that they would carry through with it, but that it is possible?) I understand that speeding is speeding and that there are limits for reasons, but it is a little aggravating to think that someone going 44 in a 25 would get off easier than someone doing 80 in a 70.

how come she didnt just go for the weekends at the detention center instead?
thats what I did back when,,,, I mean, thats what I would do if I ever got time for doing something wrong.....

only thing to the weekends is that there is little chance of becoming someones bieatch,, so I guess if you consider bobbing for apples a perk to being incarcerated, straight time should be chosen.
