Can you imagine if George Bush had done that, sicced the power of the White House on every media outlet or analyst who clashed with him? This is a dangerous president, and even more so because his disciples are ignorant and would do anything for him.

Sorry, folks, at least John McCain would have been a president instead of a dictator.

Yeah, no kidding....... Do they even stop to think of how they sound? Do they have any viewpoints outside the bubble? Or is it strictly the cocktail party crowd?

I wish you'd get over this. I really do. If you had your way, your mindset, there'd have never been a Reagan because there'd have been a Carter because Ford would have beat him, 'lesser' evil.

This is America. Things change. There's no dawn without a night. No highs without lows. A president McCain would be facing, simply based on the norm, ever larger mid term margins for the left. That's just the way it typically works. That what you want, solid Dem control of congress like we had for 40 freaking years until 1994?

You want endless left wing writing of every single bill, every single committee chairman ship for the sake of Mr. Republican in Name Only sitting on the throne for a few years, because you are convinced, never mind his record, that he, and rock solid Dem control of congress, would be, somehow, better?

That instead of the growing opportunity of a huge mid term shift of power back to the right?

Good Lord. This is so unlike you to prefer image over substance. That's all McCain would be, that's all he could be, a token, faced with veto proof margins and being blamed for everything that went wrong under Bush, things and policies he was absolutely in favor of.

I've never seen you engage in wishing someone would be better than what they've done in the past. Maybe you are becoming more of an optimist, hoping a McCain would suddenly be better than his record?

Maybe that's it? You are growing less cynical and more hopeful?

Obviously, you know her thought processes better than anyone else but I was interpreting her statement as being more of a "for God's sake, anyone would be better than the current dimwit, even the other dimwit who ran" kind of statement... :lmao:

You are correct and that's what he rails against - he doesn't feel ANY dimwit should get a vote. However the elected dimwit is so dangerous and is causing so much damage to our country that we will never recover from it. So whoop-de-do, the dimwit Republicans take over Congress in the mid-terms (which isn't going to happen) or Maobama gets voted out in 2012 (which isn't going to happen, either) and some neo-conservative replaces him - it's too late and the damage is done.

Larry hates the lesser of two evils mentality, but honestly that's what we're stuck with because they aren't any of them worth a crap.

Larry hates the lesser of two evils mentality, but honestly that's what we're stuck with because they aren't any of them worth a crap.

And we won't get 'better' as long as we are perfectly willing to vote for lesser of two evils.

The left got their guy by stopping the compromise. Will we? Not if we will vote for whatever is wheeled in front of us.

You can't name more than one or two things you actually like about McCain. In fact, I know you've despised him on numerous occasions. He'd be steadily working away right now on some form of cap and trade, socialized medicine, no more drilling, we'd already have more troops in A'stan, maybe have invaded Iran by now. After the way he treated Palin there isn't even an argument to be made that he is a more honorable or decent person than Obama. That is better? That's worth holding your nose AND no hope of congress moving to the right?

You didn't want him, don't support him yet settled and now want to leave the GOP because of what YOU did; buy their turd sammitch on the thinnest of rationales; lesser of two evils. Now, as an indy, you will do what you should have done in the first place; Only vote for someone you actually support.

THEN and only then, do we get better; when we vote for what we SUPPORT.

As it is, you are arguing against yourself; We're stuck with crap because we support crap. McCain loses by 20-30 million, as he should have, the GOP is moving hard right instead of the madness going on now; "Palin is bad for the party. Bush wasn't all that bad. Rush is mean. We need to move to the center."

We DID move to the center. There is no more center than McCain.

And what happened? 'Not center enough!' say the sellers of less evil.

:jameo:

I applaud you saying '#### the GOP' and going indy. That tells them the way it is, but hard. You could have done the same thing during the election and rejected more left winging in the GOP. It would have had greater effect then.
If you still think McCain would be better then you defeat your own argument for leaving the GOP.

Whatever you do, I hope you ONLY vote for someone you support on as many issues as possible. I know damn well that was NEVER John McCain. Not for you. Not the woman I know.

YOU can vote for whoever you like. And I can vote for whoever I like. But the vast majority of voters will vote for whoever the media tells them to vote for.

And you can't change that, so get over it.

That's what is so frustrating and why she and I fight on this issue so often. She is the LAST person to accept lesser of two evils. Pete talked her into this with his 7 out of 10 nonsense which is nothing more than an elaborate justification for yellow dog Republicanism.

Fact is, Bush screwed us over but good and facing up to that is not easy. Voting for McCain is like a drunk having one for the road. "I ain't got no *hic* drinking problem!" instead of saying "ENOUGH!!!"

That is 100% Vrai "ENOUGH of your bull####!"

It's the damndest thing watching her making endless excuses on, of all things, politics. She NEVER follows the crowd over the cliff. She, not Palin, not McCain, is the real maverick, the follower of her own drum beat, a trail blazer, a warrior for right and wrong over the path of least resistance.

I can't think of anther time I've ever seen her so invested in group think. Ever.

Maddening says I.

Larry, I have made no excuses. I deal in reality, not fantasy and wishcraft, and you know that about me. 7 out of 10 is the majority. We cannot beat them, only minimize their damage. If you think that all of a sudden those 7 will wake up and decide that they want to take responsibility and not have Uncle Sugar coddle them, I don't know what to tell you.

You keep bringing up Reagan but, if you remember correctly, he was up against that nut Jimmy Carter and he had charisma to spare. We had hostages in Iran and gas lines. Not to mention that the entertainment media (News for Dummies) wasn't nearly as prolific, and the Leftist blogosphere hadn't even been invented.

It was a completely different era, and those old ideals do not apply to today.

Not only will the hard Left Dems retain control of Congress, but Obama will win a second term. You watch and see.

What does this have to do with you? "They" can do as they choose. "They" can compromise their values or not even have any. "They" can support 'lesser' of two evils and wander about, grazing, and telling themselves it was the 'only' choice. That is NOT you nor has it ever been until, for some reason, now.

If you had always had SOME things about McCain that you liked, well, OK. However, that's simply not the case. You joined a self justifying mob and that is simply not you. I understand the mob running to the perceived savior, the 'only' hope. Just not you. Again, I applaud you choosing to be an indy. That, at least, sounds like you. However, it woulda had more impact as a GOP'er saying 'enough!' from within, when it mattered, as opposed to the diluted affect of being an independent.

If you truly believed it didn't matter, that everything's changed, then you'd just stay with your new found mob and keep supporting the good old lesser of two evils, my party right or wrong, and take solace in group think.

Obviously, you're done with that little excursion into that mind set!

I truly believe it doesn't matter, especially since I live in the Peoples' Republik, so I chose to opt out of the club. Your defensiveness shows that you're feeling guilty about your part in getting Maobama elected so he could become our dictator. And your insistence that Bush is the root of all evil is ridiculous and tells me that you've been hanging out with too many lesbians and teenagers, not to mention your Leftwing talk show habit.
