Don't know if you are familiar with a band called "Go Fish" but there typically in the genre of kids music, although they do a lot of all ages music. Kind of like Acapella and a tame rock and roll mix with a Christian message.
If you never heard of them you should check them out each CD is a unique sound.

Below are the Lyrics of a song of theirs, about what Christmas is really about. Is this the Gift you will be giving this year or the message that your Christmas cards will convey?

It's About The Cross

It's not just about the manger
Where the baby lay
It's not all about the angels
Who sang for him that day

It's not just about the shepherds
Or the bright and shining star
It's not all about the wisemen
Who travelled from afar

Chorus:
It's about the cross
It's about my sin
It's about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

It's about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday

It's about the cross
It's about the cross

Verse 2:

It's not just about the presents
Underneath the tree
It's not all about the feeling
That the season brings to me

It's not just about coming home
To be with those you love
It's not all about the beauty
In the snow I'm dreaming of

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:

The beginning of the story is wonderful and great
But it's the ending that can save you and that's why we celebrate

It's about the cross
It's about my sin
It's about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

It's about God's love
Nailed to a tree
It's about every drop of blood that flowed from Him when it should have been me

It's about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday
So that you and I could have real life someday

It's about the cross
It's about the cross

Enjoy!

Christmas is the celebration of our Saviors birth, love and strength of family and I celebrate it as such. And it IS about the angels singing and wise men from afar searching for Him. And it IS about gifting our children in our joy of being blessed to have them and thanking the Lord for keeping them safe and alive.

Christ's death for us and His resurrection on the Cross is for after Passover, when it happened to Jesus. That is the time I would sing of suffering, forgiveness, death and rebirth.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the song, only it's appropriateness for Christmas. Thank you for sharing. :huggy:

:drummer: I say that I am not orthodox and I know Jesus was not born on Christmas and Easter is an untrue holiday, but surely that band and that song has even the orthodox message all mixed up.

Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and not about His death or the cross.

And I agree with "Aerogal" above that "His resurrection on the Cross is for after Passover" so that band and that song is way mixed up.

The ads on TV say I need to get out to the Malls and buy things so I've got a list of twenty gift I'm going to buy and wrap and mail. And I'm going to get a funny huge Santa that lights up outside and let him shine all night long. And I'm going to send only cards to those that sent me cards this year.

I guess that answers the question pretty good. It's the gift that counts. I hope we can all increase retail sales for december.

This is a wonderful time of year.

Hi,
We have a very different theology! Although Christmas typically celebrates the birth and Easter the resurrection, the point of the song is that Jesus coming was to fulfill his redemptive plan of salvation so its all about the cross other wise there was no need to come!

A funny aside, no where in scripture does it say that Angels sing, that is reserved for man only. I thought you might enjoy that bit of trivia. :-)

I added up all the dollar amount I will be spending on gifting and sent the money to my uncle back home, due to his health he can't work so the money will cover his meds for the whole year.
