Favorite Song!

We've done theme songs, now what is everyone's favorite song and why. I have two "The Times They are a Changin'" by Bob Dylan and "At This Point in My Life" by Tracy Chapman. I like the Dylan song because it's the truth and no matter what the times are like it will always be the truth. I like the Tracy Chapman song because the first time I heard it it really hit home. To me it was one of those songs you stop when you hear and say "Damn, I couldn't of said it better myself". Anyway those are mine what about you guys?

I can't even begin to choose just one, or two, or a dozen, becuase so many touch me on so many different levels. For example, I've always liked "The Living Years" because it so very well addresses something that's always been tough for men, and their fathers. And other songs remind me of other sad moments but say them powerfully - "This is it" by Kenny Loggins, which he wrote about his father's impending death. Hymns, such as "Amazing Grace", which was written by a formerly violent man and a slave trader. Sad songs like "Let Her Cry".

BUT....

I always turn the radio up full blast for "Play that Funky Music White Boy" or "Jump" (Van Halen version). They make me feel good.

I guess the thing is, I still just have ONE I personally choose as my own anthem, because I always believe you should do what you think is right, even when everything is against you, and that would be "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty.

I like these words:

Well I won't back down, No I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin me around
but I'll stand my ground ...and I won't back down

Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
hey I will stand my ground and I won't back down...

Gosh, Pix! Great question! A few favorites:

Just An Old Fashioned Love Song by Three Dog Night
Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard by Paul Simon
Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash
Angel by Sarah McLachlan

The best "heartbreak" song: The Dance by Garth Brooks - makes me cry every time.

Best belly-rubber: Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield - it's her voice that does it.

One of my favorite song lyrics is from Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey by Wings:
"Live a little
Be a gypsy, get around
Get your feet up off the ground
Live a little, get around"

I don't really have a particular favorite song. My tastes change back and forth and when something new comes out, that might be my new favorite song.

Our wedding song was, When You Say Nothing At All, by Allison Krause (sp?), which I have always liked. But then we had Happy Trails (Van Halen version) for our departure song.

We are korny I guess....:cheesy:

It'd be better for that if she'd recorded an hour-long version of the song!

Ravel's Bolero is good. Kinda cliche, still good, but only 20 min. long.
In the same category: The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

And, again, not long enough, but how about "Feelin Love" by Paula Cole?

Enigma is a good choice!

Uhh..is it getting warm in here?

I'll go with Vivaldi but Enigma reminds me of every cheesy guy I ever dated. We'd go back to his house, ostensibly just to chat and have a drink, then he'd put on Enigma and I knew it was time to leave.

The best bump and grind song, to me, is You Can Leave Your Hat On. It's what Kim Basinger stripped to in 9 1/2 Weeks. She Caught the Katy is another good one!

The all time best Bump and Grind song is "I'll Make Love to You" by Boys II Men. I'm sure I'll catch sh!t for Boys II Men on here, lol, but that's the one for me!

I thought Under the Boardwalk was the Drifters. Maybe Otis did it, though. He did do Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.

I'm old, I remember these things!!!
