Been working on geting that sharp moon..
Here is what I got last night as the moon rose over Prince Frederick.
I did not have a tri pod with me, so this was hand help..
I under exposed by 3 full stops..
Seems to be the trick to grap the detail.
Shot with a Nikon D50 70-300mm

Really good, especially with no tripod. If I tried that it would look more like a comet. :lmao:

:lmao: Yup! I have never been able to get anything like Inkpen's. Even with a good steady tripod, it still smears.

Good Photo, Ink.

Thank you all for the comments.. :howdy:

I think the tricks to get a good photo:
I shot just after it rose and the sky was still a bit light.
Stopped down 3, thats right, 3 full stops.
Underexposed A LOT...thus the black background
Sky was a soft blue.
Manual focus..
and tonight I will use a tripod and a shutter remote.
ANd will see what happens.

After trying for ages, this is the first one to look like a real moon and not a smudge on the film. :lmao:

You should go down to the beach (end of :gossip: Road) and get a pic of the moon over the Bay. I tried a while back but I'm not really good with my camera.

I drove all the way down to Chesapeake Beach.....I'd love to shoot the moon down there when it gets dark earlier.......the moon right on the bay would be fantastic.
