Anyone Like Concert Photography?

Do any of you enjoy concert photography? I know it's getting harder and harder to find a venue that even allows you to bring in you "professional" camera. Many consider any SLR professional.

Here are a couple shots of my favorite band, Travis, at the 9:30 Club in DC.

BTW, what do you use?

I started doing concert photography with a Digital Rebel (the original one) and a 50mm f/1.8. Now I use the Canon 5D with either the 50mm f/1.4 or 85mm f/1.2.

I have the 50/1.8 (for $70 couldn't pass it up) and a 70-200F2.8L.

The 2.8L just doesn't quite gather enough light and the 50/1.8 doesn't have quite enoough reach. I've been eyeing the 85/1.2 but at $1550 it makes the 85/1.8 ($350) look pretty inviting

Does th 1.2 have enough extra performance over the 1.8 to justify me prying the wallet open????

I have the D50 and D80 and a D300 on order. The D50 is actually an excellent high ISO performer where as the D80 hasn't really been pushed in the ISO department 'cause I haven't been terribly impressed.

Those shots above were with the D50 and the 50mm F1.8. Most were shot between F1.8 and F2.8, depending on the lights.

I used to have 2 D50 now I have a D50 and a D80 but I'm thinking of selling the D80 and just get another D50 and some new glass. The D50 just seems like a better camera for what I shoot. Like you said "an excellent high ISO performer"
