BF is a Ford man, so he wants to know something. What would prevent the coolant from circulating in a '99 Chebby 2500, 6.0, v-8? He said it's got a new thermostat, but the coolant won't circ. The upper hose is hot, and the lower hose is cold.

Would THIS face lie?
Everything points to the thermostat....His new one might be bad...Or maybe a water pump but they usually leak when they go bad....

Is the thermostat in right? right side up....Arrow pointing toward the front?

Air in the system could be a possiblity. Not sure what maintenance he did prior. A little history would help. oh and BTW, "CHEBBY"?

His coworker installed it. He said the thermostat came with the housing all assembled. He doesn't think it could have been put in wrong.

Just the thermostat...there was no heat in the cab.

Should it be Cheby?

Clogged heater core...

He said it's a possibility, but both heater hoses get hot, just not the same temperature. They're about 50 degrees off from each other.

air in the system, should be a fill procedure in the book. Otherwise thermostat put in upside down.

My guess would be the water pump. It is possible to have them go bad without leaking. How many miles on this truck?

My thought. Also, is the water pump working?

Coworker installed it, probably used to much sealant or was sloppy with it and the thermostat is now glued closed.
