I think I just bought an AM General M35A2 6x6 cargo truck. :frown:

A friend of mine is at a gov-surplus auction. He called and said he saw a completely refurbished M35A2 that nobody is bidding on. I laughed and said if he can grab it for under $3K I'd use it to tow a jet ski with. Obviously a joke...

But as soon as I blurted that out he said "OK, got to go auction is starting!" and hung up...

What the hell, I'll pimp it out and make it my daily driver. That biatch is gonna look GOOD with chrome rims and a pearl paint job! :jet: :lmao:

My mouth really does override common sense sometimes. :doh:

I was at Tinker when an airman drove up in a deuce and a 1/2... NOT an M35 by any stretch of the imagination...

I LIKED the M35... the turbo diesel whine.. the smell of diesel fumes in the morning..

I was up at DRMO a couple years back and a guy was showing me a trailer he won that had an old decrepit shelter on it.. he was showing me the NEW tires.. Look.. I paid $500, and I got 8 brand new TIRES.. what a steal.

To which I pointed out, the tires weren't new, the flatbed trailer that his crappy shelter sat on was. Apparently in the wisdom that is the military, someone went and bought a brand new 18 wheeler trailer for the pupose of turning in this shelter. Guy thought he was getting a couple thousand dollars worth of tires for $500, and ended up with a (guess here) $50,000 trailer for $500.

I had race cars, franken jeeps, etc. Neat stuff, but not exactly practical. I'm reformed now. A responsible practical adult!
