Anyone do anything like that?

I'm thinking about getting into it as an introduction to maybe playing some real stock market, and I'm wondering how good of a simulation it is.

Don't know nothin' about it. Why don't you just pretend to buy some stocks and see how it goes?

That's what I used to do.

Used Yahoo finance. They have decent tools for that.

From what I have watched in the last month or so, I hope you played it smart....It is pretty mean out there....

BUT, I think it will now get better.....

I bought on paper. I did extremely well.
I bought stock. I did OK.
Chicken Little went I broke even.
The town believed Chicken Little. I'm down 50% and I invested in things that usually do well in this type of market.

The market right now is insane. Both banks and the funds that short banks go down in the same day. Inflation goes up, but gold drops. It appears, that people have pulled money and stopped investing- a lot- usually they pull a little and shift the rest. This makes weird things happen and all the old advice doesn't work right now.

However... investing today- on or off paper- expect do well for a longer term. One thing doesn't change: To paraphrase Buffett, "The best time to buy is when there's blood in the streets."
