We had one with the old Doberman. Don't think I'd use it ever again.

I have never used one but I do need one. My youngest doggie likes to explore and the way our house is laid out I can't put a fence in. I have always feared they were cruel but I don't know much about them to make that judgement. My husband wants to get one but I have been fighting the issue b/c they have been really good lately.

I'm a little disturbed by the "harmless shock" claim when I've seen what it did to Johnny Knoxville on Jacka** , although it's probably less painful than being run over by a car. Still wouldn't stop someone from stealing your pup for pit bull bait or Mexican Porn.
Tell hubby that if he wears it and can stand it, then it's OK.

I used the "Invisible Fence" on a Husky several years ago and it worked great until the garage took a lightening strike. The lightening blew the unit (located in the garage) a part and zapped my dog pretty good. It was three days before he came home and then after that he would just take the zap to leave the yard.

The zap doesn't hurt the animal that bad and they hear the capacitors charging once they get within the collars set range.

I strapped it on my leg to test it before using it on the dog and it only made me limp for an hour or two, but I did stay away from the fence after that.

Nope no video, but I'll look around to see if I still have the replacement unit I bought (can't remember if one of the kids borrowed it or not) and bring it to the next gathering. As intoxication levels go up we should be able to get a volunteer and can make a video then. For some reason I see Biscuit strapping it on.

I actually recommend them for people that can't do the fence or has a dog that won't abide by the fence. It worked great for about 7 years on my hardheaded Husky.
