snowboarding

Hi,

I live in St Mary's and am looking for young people to go snowboarding with on the weekends and maybe plan longer trips later in the season. Is anyone interested, or do you know anyone who is?

Thanks

I'm heading up to Snowshoe & Wintergreen for some snowboarding the weekend of the 23rd. They've both got excellent conditions right now.

I'm not a boarder, I'm a "two-planker," but would love to go out West sometime...maybe when I hit the lottery...

March we're heading out to SLC Utah. Should be a blast! A friend of mine lives out there & he's letting us shack up for a week with him.

I was out at Eldora near Boulder just before Christmas. it was my first time riding in the Rockies. it's a completely different experience from East coast riding.

It should be a blast, no questions.

I am going out to SLC Utah during FEB 23-MAR 1.

I had to drop the Whistler Blackcomb BC trip during JAN 22-25. I will try go to Whistler-Blackcomb next year unless someone take me along this year.

I am thinking about going to either Lake Tahoe(again) or Colorado(again) in late March or early April.

I recommend all six resorts/mtns around Lake Tahoe in six days.

If you like the biggest mtn with a nice view of the lake, then hit Heavenly(CA/NV)

If you like to ride the park that's spread out near the top or near the treeline, hit Squaw Valley. Plenty dblblack runs everywhere at SV.

If you like to ride backcountry and hit the dblblack glades, try hit Kirkwood/SquawValley/Northstar@Tahoe.

For doubleblack chutes-glades-gluches run / yellow triangle area(your own risk) try hit the Motts Canyon & Killebrew on Nevada side of Heavenly. There should be some backcountry at SV and Kirkwood(bowl in the back behind Sentinel Bowl & one at Wagon Bowl )

Rt 89 on the west side of Lake Tahoe may be closed at times depending on the avalanches and heavy snowfalls. Trip to Kirkwood may require tire chains depending on the road conditions. Same goes for trip to SquawValley.

As for partying.. not sure what you mean .. if you mean apres ski, you can do that at Heavenly on California side at any of those bars on the slopes. Kirkwood has couple bars for apres ski hours.

If you want to gamble , just go down on the Nevada side of Heavenly to the casino on the slope. The name of the place escape my mind.

If you mean partying with young kids, just ask any young employees where the party is gonna be happening.

I recommend staying at the lodges near Stateline(CA/NV). Rent a car/suv.
Watch for snow report daily. Not all mtns get same snowfalls around Lake Tahoe. I.e. I went to Kirkwood for fresh waist deep powder while Heavenly didn't have fresh snow on that day.

Sugar Bowl, Sierra-at-Tahoe, and Northstar-at-Tahoe are the other three that you can go for.

The little hospital in Truckee area north of Lake Tahoe is the captial broken bone hospital in the USA. Just thought you might want to know where the hospital is at.

Eldora .. that place is good for beginners. 1,000 feet vert.. cute.

If you are not an expert snowboarder, disregard what I just said about Lake Tahoe.

Ice (East) coast riding and Powder (West) coast riding are like comparing apples and oranges.
