Why is Mr. Gartland running for Clerk of the Circiut Court for Charles County? I know he registered with the Board of Elections as living in Waldorf, but that's false. My understanding of running for an elected office in Charles County, is that you have to LIVE in the county, in the STATE for that matter! Mr. Gartland has used his MOTHER's address in Waldorf to register! He really lives just over the 301 bridge in VIRGINIA! Come on Mr. Gartland! You don't really think the people in Charles County are that gullible!? That we would just take your word for it!? Don't think that you will be able to win this election on your name alone. Most of the people I've talked to in this county think that your running for a political office is a joke! Your antics with a certain County Commissioner have not been forgotten. Mr. Gartland is also being backed by Ms. Donna Burch. Who happens to be a DEMOCRAT. This county is ready for some changes! Some fresh air! It's time to clean out the closet! We finally have that breath of fresh air in Rick Day.

Why do you think anyone cares about who wins Clerk of the Circuit Court?

You'd be better off explaing what exactly the Clerk does - I'll bet 9 out of 10 people have no idea.

As a registered voter and a taxpayer it's your civic responsibility to know what the elected officials of this community do. Maybe you should take a fieldtrip to your local court house and county government office to instruct yourself on how things work, so you can make an informed decision when you cast your votes.

You're absolutely right !!!!........ If this Rick Day guy can get us a nice new movie theater w/ stadium seating..... I'll vote. Deal??

Oh, and ask him if he can do something about all these DEM dillweeds coming into the forum here and typing such silly crap. We are all now much DUMBER to have read their BS for the past 3 days :biggrin:

Tater, if he could do all that I'd vote for him! For Elizabeth's benefit, the Clerk of the Circuit Court does just what the title implies - maintains the court papers ("clerks" for the circuit court). Court records, land deeds, issues various licenses (business, marriage) and administers the oath of office to elected officials.

Big whoop. Pick a name at random - there's no great skill involved in being a file clerk.

I know that is a good question JetMonkey. Jim Gartland was the sheriff for Charles County for years. I know Elizabeth is right in saying he doesn't live in Charles County, but he does support and maintain the home of his mother who is in Charles County. To come here and post such non-sense makes me think that Day is worried Gartland may get the job. I haven't had any dealings with the Clerk of the Court and until I do I will have no opinion either way just a vraiblonde said. Pick a name a random.

Is the James Gartland the same person who had a security business - and the one who had the porno -book shops -Kind of remember something when we use to live here -What is he doing now?? - To be a Clerk of the Court is a responsible job - which we all are affected by at some point in our life - I just wonder why he would want to become a Clerk? not for record access I hope - -

This is the same message I got in my PM box this morning. I am sure IF he was involved in anything illegal and it was valid chargable crime, he would not have been the sheriff in this county for as many years as he was. He was voted out and not booted out. I happen to know many of the politicians in this county which is neither here nor there. They all seem to have issues. I am sure glad I am not in that lime light, who knows what they would say about me. Like I have said before, I really could care less about the person who gets this job.
