crabbing questions from a newbie

Is April too early to go crabbing?

I'm going to be in Salisbury, MD the 1st week of April -- is there any place to go crabbing nearby?

What's the best technique, the string & chicken neck thing or crab traps? This will be my 1st time crabbing, so I'd probably like to try the easiest method.

Based on my experience, I'd say that was really much too early. We usually crab off of a creek in Calvert and haven't had much success until around July 4 although the crabs do start showing up around Memorial Day. Depends on the body of water, the water temp., how much rain which affects the salinity, etc.
