Spring Ridge MS to Host Bullying Presentation

Spring Ridge Middle School’s Guidance Department will offer a presentation for interested parents entitled “Parent Perspectives -- Bullies and Victims,” on Monday, May 9, 2011, 6:00 p.m., in the school’s Media Center. Spring Ridge Middle School is located at 19856 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653. The evening will include suggestions on what parents can do to assist and partner with schools to recognize, eliminate and discourage bullying. I have been in the process of writing a book about bullying and cyber bullying and have been a member of the Board of Ed Safety and Security Committee, since the previous Superintendent. This event should be interesting. For communication purposes, this is a good start. The Board of Education as a whole needs to be more proactive on this subject. With that said, St. Mary's has done a far better job than other school systems. Always room for improvement. I wish them luck.
