Calling all budding artists!
The popular children's board game Candyland is coming to life in St. Mary's County in December. Brought to our area by the Thanks for the Mammaries Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Team, the fundraising event invites families and "kids at heart" to come out and play the lifesize game as the pieces and visit all the "lands" in the process. Live characters will greet you as you make your way through the whimsical land toward the candy castle, where a very special guest awaits!
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team is inviting children ages 4 through 10 to submit their colorful, hand-drawn and colored artwork into a contest where one entry will be selected as the Program Cover Artwork.
PRIZES:
One entry will be chosen and used as the cover of the event program! The winning design artist will receive a $25.00 Brusters Ice Cream gift card, an Artist's Basket of Goodies from St. Mary's Macaroni Kid, a gift from Annmarie Sculputre Garden and Arts Center, one (1) ticket to the Candyland Live event, an 11" x 13" photo print of their drawing, a copy of the program including their artwork and credits, and a Spotlight Article in a December issue of St. Mary's Macaroni Kid (featuring a photo of the artist and his/her winning artwork)!
HOW TO ENTER:
Children ages 4 to 10 years old are invited to enter into the Candyland Live Program Cover Contest! Colorful submissions are accepted between September 24 - November 14 and must be submitted on paper no larger than 8.5" X 11". The theme is Whimsical Wonderful Candyland. No graphic-enhanced entries will be accepted. Art must be hand-drawn and colored. Send your child's entry to Thanks For The Mammaries, PO Box 1026, Leonardtown MD 20650. Must be postmarked by November 14, 2011. Include your child's name, age, mailing address, and phone number on the back of the entry. Limit 1 entry per child.
By submitting your child's entry, you give Thanks for the Mammaries the right to use the entry in any format including (but not limited to) posters, online advertisements, mailing advertisements and promotional materials.
Candyland Live will be held at the St. Mary's County Fairground on December 3, 2011. The Thanks for the Mammaries Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Team walks 39.9 miles in Washington D.C. every year, raising money to fight against breast cancer. All funds generated from the DC walk help immediate areas of Maryland in the hopes of finding a cure for breast cancer. The team has been walking for seven years and is excited to add Candyland Live to their fundraising efforts.
Keep an eye on our blog roll at Candy Land Somd and on macaroni kid! Macaroni kid has generously offered to give us promotion! After all submissions are in- we will put up a poll where people can vote on their favorites!

It so simple you have to cheat to make sure your kid wins
