New Pledge of Allegiance

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word "God" is mentioned.... A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer.

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

Why should we show signs of disbelief at each new atrocity done by a teenager? why should be outraged at their decadence, lack of regard for human life, or moral depravity?
We want morality out of our laws and humanistic codes of conduct in our Government schools....

so live with the disasterous generation to come,
PAY
for the prisons..
the psychotherapy sessions,
the intersessions,
the grief counselors,
the midnight basketball leagues,
the lawsuits...


You only get what you pay for.

All because we are unwilling to accept a supreme law- the chief pillar of our Democracy-Faith in God

I attend a public high school and I am a devout Roman Catholic. I pray every single day in school. I pray for a good grade, help with daily troubles, and for my friends who so often need guidance. I pray many times a day during the schoolday and I am completely content with that. I don't feel the need to get up on a soapbox and proclaim to the rest of my classmates that I am praying. As Jesus said (and I paraphrase, Bible recitation is a little rusty), "when you pray, go into your room and lock the door." Praying should be done in private and that is the way that I prefer it.

This is good, as long as you don't get caught, and they don't try to stop you.

Of course they do not. It seems to me that a lot of misinformation is spread about in religious circles about prayer in school. I often see t-shirts that said "I Broke the Rules - I Prayed in School." That is just absolutely false. Devout Christians, Muslims, whatever are all welcome to pray in school - just not while on a soapbox or with a teacher leading him or her.

Great post, Hessian & Sleuth! It's too bad that the children today don't see the changes that have taken place since we allowed 'one' non-believer to change our public schools.
