I grew up on Quaker Oats oatmeal and cream of wheat. We also had something called Maypo. Maypo heavily advertised in the 60's during the Saturday morning cartoons. I'm sure me and my brother demanded Maypo more than once.

Now I like the nutty flavor of steel cut oats. Plus they are quite filling.

Any other hot cereal eaters out here?

I love steel cut oats with a chopped apple and some maple syrup but it's another one of my aversion things, so I usually just have eggs for breakfast.

I grew up on the same ..


.... also Shredded Wheat [large bricks]
2 on a plate
pour over boiling water
press flat with a fork
Drain extra water

spread on butter and sugar [maybe Cinnamon and sugar]



mom was from Central PA near Altoona [German Stock]

Today's steel cut oats have honey, currants and a splash of heavy cream. I think it's time for 2nd breakfast.
