That's where we are. Staying at the La Quinta downtown - nice hotel, no indoor pool :boo: but clean and comfortable and close to pretty much everything we came here to see. The desk woman looks like a young Cicely Tyson (she didn't know who that was).

Tonight we hung out in Merchant Square, which is extremely cool. I've been before but Monello hadn't, which makes me happy because I've been almost nowhere that he hasn't already been. Fun evening walking around, stopping in for drinkies at random pubs; made a mistake on dinner with BBQ buffet at Seasons - it was fine, but there were several places we saw afterward where we should have gone instead.

Downtown they have an ice skating rink that we're going to do tomorrow or Sunday. There was a gathering area with torches, picnic tables, and a bonfire that we hung out at for awhile.

I talk to everyone, so several locals gave us advice on what to see, do, and eat. Apparently the Colonial Parkway drive between Jamestown and Yorktown is stunning, so we'll do that and let you know

God bless the USA
We went to Williamsburg when our daughter was 3. It was a wonderful place, lots of fun, and experienced history. My fave memory is daughter trying to navigate that old fashioned wheel and stick thing; trying to make it roll down the road. It sounds like your trip is as great as ours was. Now our daughter is expecting our first grandchild in a couple of weeks. Wow. We were in Williamsburg 26 years ago. Thanks for the memory trigger. Time flies.

I'm going after Christmas, so I'll be looking to pick your brain on where to go and what to see....

Bug and I were there about this time last year and stayed at the same hotel. Williamsburg is so pretty at Christmas time.

Jamestown and Yorktown each have two different sections, run by different services, with different multipasses.

Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center are one set: http://www.historyisfun.org/?gclid=CJ6l0uHB18kCFVQYHwodsGMFiw

Historic Jamestowne (http://historicjamestowne.org/) and Yorktown Battlefield (http://www.nps.gov/york/index.htm) are another.

Do not think you can buy the multipass for Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown and it will include Historic Jamestowne, because it does not.

Fun day today touring the historic sites, then we had the best pizza I think I've ever had at Anna's. The leftovers will be an amazing breakfast in the morning.
