The Haymarket is an example of the way it should be done. When I was a kid that area used to be all warehouses, manufacturing, and distribution plants, run down and dilapidated. Those all moved to the outskirts of town and the area was revitalized to what it is today - an historic neighborhood with shops, restaurants, entertainment facilities, hotels, apartment complexes, and offices. On the buildings you can still see the names of what they used to be, some of which I remember and some were before my time.
