Why do some people find pleasure in pointing out other people’s faults/weaknesses/mistakes/insecurities?

would just like to hear everyone's thoughts on that.

I thought this was a survey?

You know....the kind with choices to pick from which have different opinions....

*EDIT* I stand corrected...

My grandmother always says, that the things that make you absolutely nuts are the very same things you are guilty of. The mirror is not your friend. :lmao:

I always thought it was what you did for people you care about so you can help them improve the quality of their life.

Only your bestest friends will tell you that you have a booger hanging from your nose.

I feel that we've gotten so PC, that nobody points out a damn thing anymore. Somebody has to tell ya'.

It would depend on the situation. It is one thing to be constructive and an entirely different thing to be harsh and cruel. If it is being pointed out to be harsh and cruel, demeaning, makes you feel down about yourself, and it makes you question the hurtful and hateful things, you seem to find yourself trying harder to please that person, it is time to run, don't walk, run. People like that will drag you down, because they are not happy with themselves and they will project it onto you.

People pick at others mostly because they're insecure. What better way to make yourself look better than to tear someone else down?

You never see an attractive woman running down another woman's looks, or a thin woman running down another's figure. It's always the nasty chicks who have to go, "Ewww! Did you see what she was wearing?" or "She looks like she's put on a few pounds :smirk:" You never see happy people with fulfilled lives picking and snarking about people who've never done anything to them.

I, myself, tend to pick on the hypocrites - the fat women who pick at someone else's weight, the karma kryers who pick at someone else who mentions karma, the liberal weiners who run down Republicans for doing the same thing Democrats did. Those people.

If it is a close friend, and I see them making the same mistakes over and over, I will sit down and talk with them about their problem (addictions, poor relationship choices, self esteem issues.) - not pleasurable but often necessary.
Also with friends we will sometimes pick on each other a little, but never in a way that would be destructive to the relationship. - pleasurable but reciprocal

But I don't pick on anyone on the basis of their looks or IQ.

I will, however, question anyone who is not using common sense.

Picking on people's faults is just damn fun. But mostly I just pick on people in my head, and not out loud.
:yeahthat: :high5:

I'm cool with my faults, and people calling them out. Especially since my only fault is having so few faults. :drama: :diva:

That's not true. One of the only real benefits of going to most of the bars in Southern Maryland is to internally gloat because I'm in at least the top five list of attractive women in there.

 I think all women AND MEN do that often, but we don't walk up to them and say "I know I look better than your ugly self."
